As many people do, I struggled to find my purpose in life. All that I knew is that I wanted to help others. Personally I suffered from depression and anxiety, which hindered me in finding a purposeful life. I decided that I had to better understand and overcome these issues that had become barriers. Through hard work and confronting these problems, I found ways to realize my potential in helping others struggling with similar issues. The framework I use, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), allows me to assist clients with staying in the present moment, defusing negative thoughts, accepting the pain life can bring, making value based decisions, understanding self as context, and taking committed action. My aim is to help others create a meaningful life, while accepting the pain life offers (psychological flexibility).
Do you have Medicaid? Have you been unable to find a mental health provider outside of an agency setting? If you have Medicaid, it can sometimes be difficult to find a private counselor or therapist to work with. I accept Medicaid, and I’m here to help you with concerns related to anxiety, depression, PTSD, and family conflict.
Do you feel as though you can’t catch a break from worrying? Because you’ve been dealing with anxiety everyday, you may have come to believe that it’s a part of you, and something you just have to live with. It doesn’t have to be that way. In addition to constant worry, you may also notice that you are sometimes in a state of panic, you may be fearful, and you may have physical symptoms such as headaches, shortness of breath, and nausea. I would love to assist you in learning techniques to help alleviate your symptoms so that you can have less worry in your everyday life.
Many individuals are suffering from PTSD and don’t even realize it. Trauma isn’t something that we usually recognize within ourselves. However, the symptoms aren’t something that we can ignore. Being irritable or having angry outbursts are a result of trauma, as well as being easily startled, trouble concentrating, nightmares, panic attacks, avoidance, and isolation. Whether you have been directly involved in a traumatic event, or only witnessed something troubling, you are more than likely experiencing many of these symptoms. You don’t have to continue suffering.
Life can be overwhelming. Sometimes it becomes so overwhelming that we begin just living day to day, with no sense of purpose or enjoyment. If you feel you suffer from a depressed mood most the day, lack of interest in activities you once found enjoyable, hopelessness, sleeping too much or too little, loss of energy, fatigue, indecisiveness, or diminished ability to concentrate, then depression has crept into your life. It would be my pleasure to help you climb your way out. Pick up the phone and take the first step to leading a more fulfilling life.
Being close to other human beings brings both a sense of comfort as well as occasional frustration and conflict. We love our children, but sometimes maintaining a sense of balance can be difficult as your child moves through different developmental stages. I specialize in working with parent-child relations and behavioral issues that your child may be experiencing. As a parent myself, I know how to help you through the evolving stages of parenthood and child development. Take the first step today in working toward a better relationship with your child.
